The Independent Worlds is a sector of mostly unaligned planets and governments partaking in loose trade agreements between each other.
This sector is relatively isolated from galactic events and was only partially occupied and exploited by Helix leaving a loose collection of worlds unaligned with any minor or major interstellar faction.
